Challenger League - Omaha, NE
Challenger Little League is a non-profit 501 c (3) registered organization. We are an actual division of the National Little League. We operate with an all volunteer Board and Coaching staff. The Mission of our organization is to provide the opportunity for children ages 5-21 with developmental and/or physical disabilities to play baseball. We also have an Alumni League that provides the same opportunities to adults ages 22 on up. In the past we have had players in their 50’s.
We average between 150-200 players a year. 75-100 in our younger league and 75-100 in our Alumni Division. These players and their families travel from as far as Fremont, Wahoo, Waterloo, Plattsmouth, Council Bluffs and other surrounding communities.
All of our players have some kind of mental or physical disability or, in a lot of cases, both. The Challenger Board members try very hard to keep the cost of playing baseball down through your donations.
Challenger offers the real deal experience! We play our games on actual dirt and grass baseball fields at the Keystone Little League Complex. We supply licensed Minor/Major League hats along with our own designed jerseys complete with their perspective team logos and the players love them just as much as being able to get out on the field and play a little ball! Our players supply their own pants and gloves. Challenger supplies all the other equipment.
Our season starts in April and ends at the end of June. Our games consist of an hour in length, which consists of 2 to 4 innings. We coach pitch. Every player plays in the outfield and bats every inning, with the last batter hitting a home run.
We also dress the catchers out in the full catcher’s gear. We have a buddy system. This consists of volunteers of all age groups. Buddies show up to the games and assist our players with all aspects of the game. These buddies have been local school sports teams, Boy Scout Troops, siblings and relatives, and even individuals from the community. Challenger also offers an awards/end of the year party at the end of the season. We also offer a picture day.
We are 100% dependent on donations from local businesses, other organizations in our community and individual donations. We recognize our team sponsors (Home Run) on our jerseys, Facebook page and Web Site.
Team Sponsorships (Home Run) will be $500.00 this year. Can we count on you for a sponsorship again this year? Sponsorships can be mailed to Jeff Leonard, 8023 Evans St, Omaha, Ne 68134. Please make all checks out to Challenger Little League.
Sponsorships for our end of the year awards program (End of Year Party), trophies (Trophies) and others are also available. Attached to this letter is an outline of sponsorships available.
